Coaches

As we prepare for the upcoming season, this is a reminder that all coaches and assistant coaches are required to complete a background check and SafeSport training prior to participating in any tryouts, evaluations, practices, or team activities.

Please note the following:

• Background checks are not transferable from other sports or organizations and must be completed specifically through our league.
• SafeSport certification expires every 10 months and must be current for the season.
• If your SafeSport certification expires at any point during the season — including certifications completed through another sport or organization — it must be renewed and updated before you are permitted to continue coaching or participating in team activities.
• SafeSport and background checks are connected to your SportsEngine account. Please make sure you are logged into the correct account when completing these requirements.

This requirement is part of the Hayward Sports Center insurance policy as well as a requirement of the Sports Center Board. While we understand this may be a change from previous seasons, these steps are in place to help ensure a safe environment for all players, coaches, and families.

Both the SafeSport training and background check are free of charge and fully covered by the league.

In order to avoid interruptions during the season, all coaches and assistant coaches must have these completed and/or updated prior to tryouts and evaluations. Coaches who have not completed these requirements will not be permitted to participate until they are finalized.
